Florence Nightingale’s Birthday

Isla in Year 3 has been a number one fan of Florence Nightingale since learning about her in Mrs Butler’s class. Today is the 200th anniversary of her birthday and this is what Isla told me:

I made a poster about Florence Nightingale. She is my hero. She changed the hospitals in the Crimean war to make them better for the soldiers. It is her 200th birthday today and I dressed up as Florence Nightingale. I made a cake with blue doctor crosses on it and we had a party tea. I served a jug of juice and told everybody it was special hospital juice. I did a speech about Florence Nightingale and her life. Then I brought in the surprise cake with the candles lit.

What a lovely way to remember someone whose legacy has never been so relevant. Well done Isla!
